I’m taking a little break in our regular women’s programming to ask you…
When’s the last time you talked to your husband, brother, father or any male person about their prostate health? I know its kind of a funny subject, right? We often hear people say I’m on a “heart healthy” diet but I’ve never heard anyone say, “Hey, I’m on a prostate healthy diet!” But if you have a man in your life that you want to see around for a while it’s worth a conversation. Here’s why…
Prostate cancer is the most common cancer among men (after skin cancer). One out of every seven men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer in their lifetime. And as many as half of all men will experience symptoms of enlarged prostate by the age of 60. A clue to an enlarged prostate is often those frequent night time bathroom visits.
So, please. if you have a man that you love in your life, please read this article that I wrote entitled, “Cracking the Nut on Prostate Health.” And share this information with him.
There is evidence that foods high in lycopene and selenium may help reduce the risk of prostate cancer. But the most exciting news of all is a growing body of animal research that is finding that eating walnuts may help prevent and delay the growth of those prostate tumors altogether.
Tis the season for our men to make the connection between their health and what they eat! Because a happy prostate is a happy life!
